I am here to assist you in research, advocacy and education through bodily health, herbalism and emotional wellness.

Postpartum Doula Support

Postpartum support is more than just showing up as a caregiver during some of the most tender times, but it is also about being a partial guide for integration after your gestational experience both on a physical, emotional & spiritual level. As your postpartum doula, my goal is to help provide nourishment to your body with warming meals, supply herbal support as well as lactation and latch assistance, and truly show up for you with whatever your needs may be to help ease the postpartum healing process.

My Postpartum Services are full-spectrum and tailored to fit your needs whether you are celebrating bringing in new life or grieving the loss of one.

Birth Doula Support

As your birth doula, I will help you to prepare for your birth as well as accompany you during labor to help ensure a healthy birth experience for you and your baby. I provide informational support as well as emotional, physical, spiritual and nutritional support before, during and after your pregnancy. I will assist in advocating for and communicating your needs to other birth attendants as well as provide you with educational support to help you make empowered and informed decisions during the event of your birth.

The services I provide are customizable to the clients’ specific needs. Such services include massage, relaxation and visualization techniques, aromatherapy, acupressure, herbal support, Rebozo support, providing suggestions for different positions utilizing the birthing ball, music and other techniques for providing comfort measures before, during and after labor. As your doula, I work with you and your family and aim to be an advocate for your needs.

About me

After spending so much time watching birth videos, seeing babies come into the world gently with care and support made me consider how different things could be. Sometimes I imagine a world where parents and children have their needs met, and are surrounded by encouraging and supportive care givers. I believe that the way this crucial time is supported can significantly impact the lives of the parent and child and, by extension, our communities and world.

Healing from the trauma around my son’s pregnancy, birth and his infancy is a process I am still working on. If I had the support of a doula, I would have had a better chance at breastfeeding and a lower risk of interventions. Learning more about the racial disparities in maternal health made me want to do what I can to improve the trends in the Black and Indigenous maternal health crisis.

I am Kanienkeha:ka/Mohawk on my dad’s side and am learning more about our teachings regarding pregnancy and birth. We are taught to value life givers and honor the sacred time. My mother is from Iraq and she has been a great support in my journey to answer the call to this work.

Spending time growing food and medicine, learning my language, decolonizing and working for collective liberation are some my favorite past times.

Testimonials

Chriset has been an amazing support throughout my pregnancy, birth, and this postpartum experience. I would not have had such an beautiful birth without her being there. She brings so much love and warmth when she is around! To anyone looking for a doula, Chriset would be my first recommendation!

I am so grateful I had Chriset on my birth team. She lead me down the path of knowing how to navigate my way to a natural hospital birth. I am so thankful for all the care and resources she has shared with me.

When I was first recommended to find a doula I was unaware of the difference between a doula and a midwife’s services. Although Chriset was only supposed to be my on-call doula since my original doula was out of town, and I wasn’t sure how I felt about a “stranger” attending my birth, from the moment she arrived she was anything but.

She showed up promptly with a gentle spirit ready to help me and my partner with the hard work of bringing our son earth-side. She took the time to connect with me and get to know me better as she ran me a bath, braided my hair and fed me berries while she rubbed my feet.

We spent a long time walking outside under the moonlight to help my labor progress while she applied counter pressure. She encouraged me with every step and kept me distracted with questions about myself and what I was most excited for in motherhood.

One of the most important things she did throughout my labor was teach my partner several ways to best support me and helped to get him involved in the birth of our son. When it seemed like we had made enough progress she contacted the midwives and my primary doula to let them know that we were ready to head into the birth center.

She knew how much it meant to me to have an unmedicated & natural birth with my midwives. Even though there were definitely moments that she could see were VERY difficult for me she helped me to persevere and accomplish my goal.

Birth is not for weenies! I love Chriset and I appreciate her reverence for me and the support & patience that she gave to me. The hard work and love that she put in really made all the difference in my journey through birth.

She made me feel like a queen and every time i reflect on the experience and look back on the MANY beautiful photos that she captured throughout my labor, she will be remembered and held close to my grateful heart for making my birth dreams come true.

If you are in need of a doula please consider hiring her! I can’t imagine how it would have gone without her tender care and support.
